Wisdom Tooth Removal & Surgery in Singapore

Impacted or painful wisdom tooth? Surgical removal with local anaesthesia — the entire cost can be offset with Medisave.

When does a wisdom tooth need to come out?

Wisdom teeth usually need removal when they're impacted — blocked by the tooth in front and growing at an angle — or when they cause pain, repeated gum infection, trap food, decay, or damage the tooth next to them. Left alone, an impacted wisdom tooth can also contribute to jaw problems, sinus issues and alignment changes.

Even without pain, our dentists may recommend preventive removal: surgery is simpler and recovery faster when you're younger, and complications increase with age. An X-ray assessment tells us exactly what your wisdom teeth are doing.

What the procedure is like

Wisdom tooth surgery is done under local anaesthesia, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. Expect some swelling and soreness for a few days afterwards — most people are back to normal within about a week with soft foods and prescribed painkillers.

A simple (non-surgical) extraction is quicker still, and your dentist will tell you which your case needs after the X-ray.

Wisdom Tooth Surgery — your questions answered

How much does wisdom tooth surgery cost in Singapore?+

At Smile Central, a simple extraction starts from $150; surgical removal ranges from $650–$1,420 per tooth, $1,850–$2,150 for one side (upper and lower), or $2,900 for all four. The entire surgical cost can be offset with Medisave.

Is wisdom tooth surgery painful?+

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so you shouldn't feel pain during it. Some swelling and soreness for a few days afterwards is normal, managed with soft foods and prescribed painkillers.

How long is recovery after wisdom tooth surgery?+

Most people are back to normal within about a week. Swelling peaks in the first couple of days, then settles quickly with rest and the aftercare we'll walk you through.

Can I claim Medisave for wisdom tooth removal?+

Yes — surgical wisdom tooth removal is Medisave-claimable, and at Smile Central the entire surgical cost can be offset with Medisave. Simple non-surgical extractions are not Medisave-claimable.

Should I remove a wisdom tooth that doesn't hurt?+

Sometimes, yes. If an X-ray shows the tooth is impacted or likely to cause decay or gum problems, removing it early — while surgery is simpler and recovery faster — can save you pain and cost later. Our dentists will advise based on your X-ray.
